Are you middle class?
Living in the Bay Area leaves one with something of a skewed notion of what it means to live a middle class life.
The median home price in San Francisco was over $840,000 in 2015 and the median monthly rent for a 2 bedroom apartment sits at $4,650. Food costs are about 23% higher, gas 37% higher, and healthcare 20% higher than the national average.
I found this entertaining (depressing?) calculator provided by the Pew Research Center which calculates where your household falls–dividing between upper, middle, and lower class based on income, household size, and–importantly–location location location.
Check it out, if you dare.
